Meryem Şimşek was born on January 4, 1971, in Kütahya, Turkey. She is a high school graduate and has been engaged in tile and ceramic art for 20 years. She is married and a mother of three children. Şimşek began her artistic training under Meral Erdoğmuş and has participated in tile and ceramic exhibitions across many cities in Turkey. She also exhibited her works at a tile and ceramic exhibition in New York, USA. She continues to actively practice tile and miniature art. Meryem Şimşek maintains her studio in the center of Kütahya, where she continues her work. She mentors her student, Nuray Coşkun, and participates in various municipal cultural events.
