After having moved to Eski Foça from Istanbul, Şencan started natural dyeing and traditional printing with the trainings she received from Beste Bonnard, Özge Horasan and Emine Kuşcul, and established her own workshop in her home. She colours local fabrics woven with traditional methods on looms directly or with natural dyeing methods. Şencan uses geographically indicated Şile bezi (Şile cloth) and natural materials obtained from olive trees, avocado seeds and coconut shells and prefers to work with plants such as root dye, pomegranate, turmeric, acacia, acorn, mulberry, mimosa, chamomile, eucalyptus, onion peel, avocado and indigo in dyeing.
