Efdaluddin Kılıç was born in Istanbul in 1968. He studied at Marmara University Faculty of Theology and completed his graduate studies at the same university. In 1985, he studied khatt with Hüsrev Subaşı and Muhittin Serin, thuluth and naskh with Hasan Çelebi and received his license on these script styles in 1993. Kılıç has been working as an advisor at khatt and Ottoman courses at the Turkish Cultural Service Foundation Caferağa Madrassah since 1998. He participated in many exhibitions, gave seminars and applied courses in many countries since 1999. Kılıç continues his works at his workshop in Istanbul; works as a khatt advisor, prepares paper and ink, does coloring studies on textured and smooth papers with natural dyes. He has been researching Turkish bows and arrows for fifteen years in order to bring archery and khatt together again, and working on making and shooting techniques of these bows.
