Banu Ayşe Özdemir was born in Istanbul in 1971. She graduated from Boğaziçi University Vocational School Computer Programming Associate Degree Program in 1990. She took charcoal drawing classes from the Painter Sabri Berkel at his workshop between 1987-1991, and continued her studies with the Painter Argun Okumuşoğlu and the Painter Hülya Düzenli. Özdemir did studies on marbling with Hikmet Barutçugil between 2003-2009, and concentrated more on akkase marbling. She also took illumination classes from Esra Elitaş, an instructor at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, between 2008-2010 and has been receiving katı’ training from Hatice Uçar since 2015.
