Balekoğlu was born in 1981 in Trabzon. She graduated from Karadeniz Technical University, Department of Handicrafts in 2006. She received marbling courses from Emine Solak at the Birlik Foundation between 2007 and 2010, and got her ijazah from Solak in 2011. She has been working as a marbling instructor at ISMEK since then.
