Karanfil, who graduated from Dokuz Eylül University, Faculty of Education, Department of Fine Arts Education, retired in 2023 after teaching visual arts for twenty-eight years. Karanfil, who started taking courses on marbling in 2015, took marbling lessons from Güner Peksayılır, a mastership licensed student of Yılmaz Enes. Karanfil participated in the 6th Dubai World Marbling Day events.
