Born in the Milas district of Muğla, Ergün improved his skills in weaving by receiving training on the carpet weaving profession he learned from his mother. Starting in 2019, Ergün worked as a master instructor at Muğla Olgunlaşma Enstitüsü for four years and participated in various events and festivals. In 2022, Ergün, who was given the Intangible Cultural Heritage Bearer Artist Promotion Card by Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Culture and Tourism, continues to work at his home in Milas.
