After working in various sectors between 1984 and 2002, Kansu turned from producing war uniforms to producing armour, and for many years designed Turkish type knitted armor both in its original form and as home accessories, jewellery and costumes. Kansu designed twelve armor-shield-knee guard-armrest full set women’s war armor for the Umay Asena project with her students at Karşıyaka Public Education Center. She continues to train new students and to design with Gönül Ece Kansu in her own home workshop.
