Göher Ergün was born in Gümüşhacıköy district of Amasya in 1985. She received training from karagöz – puppet artists Alpay Ekler and Tacettin Diker through a master-apprentice relationship. Ergün, who is one of the founders of Karagöz Association, is the General Secretary of the Istanbul Branch of the International Puppet and Karagöz Association (UNIMA). The student she trained is Yahya Değirmenci.
